Background

WoolQ is the result of 3 years of wool industry review and consultation, commencing with the Wool Selling System Review (WSSR) in October 2014. After joining the consultancy team in May 2017, LEVO worked to identify and piece together the disparate data sources and stakeholder requirements to create WoolQ.

WoolQ is the result of 3 years of wool industry review and consultation, commencing with the Wool Selling System Review (WSSR) in October 2014. In October 2014 AWI commissioned an arms-length review of the existing wool selling system to determine whether greater efficiencies, increased competitive tension and improved transparency could be delivered in the journey of wool from the shearing shed to the ship’s rail for export. AWI empanelled an independent group of thought leaders to conduct this review. In March 2017 AWI undertook a competitive pitch process from which LEVO was appointed as the project’s consultancy.

LEVO undertook a deep-dive discovery to identify and validate requirements for the development of an industry-wide Wool Exchange Portal. After joining the consultancy team in May 2017, LEVO worked to identify and piece together the disparate data sources and stakeholder requirements to formulate a viable solution. LEVO undertook 10+ user led discovery sessions over a period of three months to identify both the functional and technical requirements of a potential Wool Exchange Portal. The outcomes of these discovery sessions formed the core requirements of what would become WoolQ:

  • Brand definition and development
  • WCMS selection and development
  • Portal development including authentication, workflow management and integration with industry data sources
  • Mobile application development
  • Web services layer for industry integration

What people are saying

Woolgrower - Neil Jackson, WA

The WoolQ eSpeci is really easy to use. I can see how a digital record of all my specis will enable me to view my wool and better understand my farm’s performance.

Farm Manager - Matt Crozier, NSW

We trialled the WoolQ eSpeci in our shed during February and we can see clear efficiencies not only within shed operations but also the communication flows between ourselves and our brokers during shearing time.

Master Classer - Raelene Laidlaw, VIC

I love how it keeps things organised and helps prevent manual errors. Digitising the paper speci is a really good thing not just for current wool classers but also for the next generation.
